Sent-off from Marina Mazatlan.

Today, December 31 st 2011, we let go of our warps and left the slip in Marina Mazzatlan, which we had occupied all the time. It was quite exciting and also emotional. All our fellow cruisers were seeing us off in style.

Rick and his crew were making sure of no last minute problems.
Sergio is holding the warps and Julio to the right. Our cruiser friends are looking on.

Rick with Mexican wife, Margo.
Margo presented me with a beautiful crystal necklace with a cruisifix and a picture of the holy virgin to bring us happy sailing. I was very moved by her kind thought.

He, Rick is very happy and pleased to have completed all the jobs on Aros Mear and ready to turn to projects on other boats. Rick has looked after the boat for many years and knows every corner of her. He has always been there for us with help and advise. Can we manage without him?

Christmas Day

David and I felt very privileged to be invited along to Susan and Dennis Everington's beautiful Christmas Party in their lovely house on the Isla.
Three other couples were along and we had a wonderful time.

Marni and Michelle help themselves at the buffet.
We had turkey and all the trimmings including mashed potatoes, tray-baked potatoes, red cabbage, cucumber salad, many other salads much more.

Dennis, our wonderful host made sure our glasses were full and that we had plenty of his coffee-rhum-toddy, egg-nog and other specialities.

Susan, our lovely hostess, is a wonderful cook and makes all of her specialties from scratch. She cooks beautiful dishes with exotic ingredients and bakes lovely cakes and 'moreish' sweets, which are to die for.

Re-naming ceremony of Aquarius to Aros Mear.

On December 22nd we had our re-naming ceremony for the boat from Aquarius to Aros Mear.
We had a great celebration and David made his address to Poseidon, The Greek god of the Seas, and the four Winds and asked for blessings.

A stone belonging to Aquarius was sent to the bottom of the sea, and champagne was poured from east to west, north to south, and the other way as well. It was all done very formally.

Visit to the Slum -area and Dump in Mazatlan.

Members of The Vineyard Church go out to very poor areas in Mazatlan two times a week and hand out lunch-packs, water and fruit to the children and men in the dump.

First we buttered and packed the lunch in the church hall.
