Cruisers swab-meet.

Every second Saturday morning we have a swab-meet amongst the cruisers in the marina. You sell anything you wish to get rid of from the boat such as tools, canvas, charts and engine parts and much more. I sold some pots and pans, as I needed the space on our boat. You sell for COCONUTS, as you as not allowed to use the word 'money'! /Pesos/dollars.
I have a nice pile of coconuts on the boat now!

You meet all the cruiesers, have a chat about future plans and destinations over a coffee. It is always a good event.

Thanksgiving

Dennis and Susan, our host and hostess to the left, Michelle and Marni to the right.
David and I were invited to Thanksgiving dinner at Susans and Dennis' house with their family and other cruising frineds. We were invited for dinner at 13.00 and started with cocktails. Susan had produced this amazing spread of food including roast turkey and a big ham, salads, and bakes, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes and more much. It was all rounded off with pumpkin cheesecake and mincemeat pie followed by Kaloa-coffee. Yummy, what a fantastic feast and great company. All to be remembered for a very long time!

Our full plates.

We arrived at 13.00 hours and left after sunset!

Thanksgiving in the USA is an official holiday which was started by the Pilgrim Fathers after they arrived on the Mayflower in the Fifteenth century to the East Coast of the North American Continent. They arrived in November and starved as they ran out of food and became dependant of the natives for supplies.
A year later the pilgrims invited all the indians to a big feast of turkey and corn and all the trimmings to thank them for their kindness. Since then Thanksgiving and turkey dinner has been a tradition for the last thursday in November. Back home we have Harvest Festival and in Canada Thanksgiving is earlier in the Autumn.

The Marina

This is our beach. It is good for surfing. Sunday morning we walked three miles out on the beach to have brunch with other Cruisers. The restaurant is a real Mexican place. Later in the day they have live Mexican music, mainly guitar and singing.

The CAT on the dock 'owns the dock and will not let any other cat near and does not tolerate dogs either. In the marina there are a lot of stray cats. Some kind cruisers feed them and get them neutered. One ear gets clipped so that it is known which ones are 'done'.

This very sented flower is called Plumeria here. It is the same as Frangepany in Indonesia.

David doing boat-work!

Being back on the boat is great. Off course boat-work never ends. We have now got two anchors and a newly galvanised anchor- chain.

David loves doing rope work, and if he is at a loose end himself, he does some practicing!

Here he is in a real tangle, but with a little help from a real pro (me!) he got out of it without having to cut the string! He was in fact rewire-ing the new GPS system.

Dia De los muertos / celebration of dead/ festival of life

!st November we celebrated De los Muertos with a huge procession through the old town. Three donkey carts with free beer for all were part of the 'show'. Loud music and dressed up people were dancing down the street. It was all great fun.
